THE ARTIST BEHIND THE CREATIONS

A LIFE TIME INSPIRED BY THE SEA

Some journeys begin with a destination. TASO's began with curiosity.

From the shores of Crete to the Caribbean Sea, from Hawaii to Bali, every place TASO has called home has become part of his artistic language.

Although he studied Medicine, his true calling was always creation. His passion for art, craftsmanship and natural beauty led him to follow a different path—one devoted entirely to designing unique jewelry inspired by the world around him.

It was in the Dominican Republic that TASO discovered Larimar, the rare blue gemstone found nowhere else on Earth. Captivated by its extraordinary beauty, he became one of the pioneering designers who introduced Larimar to the international jewelry world, revealing its artistic potential through distinctive handcrafted creations.

Living for many years in Hawaii further shaped his artistic vision. The Pacific Ocean, volcanic landscapes, tropical nature, shells and pearls became an endless source of inspiration, influencing collections that celebrate the beauty of the sea and the harmony of nature.

Today, TASO divides his time between Crete and Bali, where he continues to create one-of-a-kind and limited-edition collections. Blending Mediterranean heritage, Caribbean colors and Southeast Asian craftsmanship, every piece reflects a lifetime of travel, discovery and artistic expression.

FROM CRETE TO THE WORLD

"Every journey begins with curiosity."

Taso Haidemenakis creative journey from Chania to San Francisco, Santo Domingo, Hawaii and Bali, shaping the story and identity of TASO jewelry.

Born in Chania, Crete, during the difficult post-war years, Taso learned from an early age that determination could open doors where circumstances could not.

Although he dreamed of studying Political Science, life took him on a different path. His family encouraged him to pursue Medicine, leading him first to the United States and later to Santo Domingo, where he completed his medical degree.

Yet his true calling was never medicine.

Throughout those years, he was constantly sketching, painting and creating. Every new country introduced him to different cultures, colors, materials and artistic traditions that gradually shaped his unique creative vision.

The discovery of Larimar in the Dominican Republic became a turning point. Fascinated by its extraordinary shades of blue, Taso began designing jewelry inspired by the sea, nature and the cultures he encountered throughout his travels.

Without realizing it, the future "Master of Larimar" had begun his journey.

FROM MEDICINE TO ART

“When passion becomes destiny.”

Not every artist begins with art.

TASO originally traveled abroad to study medicine, following a path chosen more by circumstance than by his own dream. During those years he worked tirelessly, lived modestly, and financed his studies through determination and hard work.

Everything changed when he arrived in the Dominican Republic.

There, he discovered Larimar — a rare blue gemstone found nowhere else on Earth. Fascinated by its colors, its energy, and its connection to the Caribbean Sea, he began experimenting with painting, sculpture, and eventually jewelry.

Without formal training in jewelry design, TASO relied entirely on instinct, creativity, and countless hours of experimentation.

What started as curiosity soon became a lifelong calling.

Today, every creation still carries the same philosophy that guided his very first designs:
create something that has never existed before.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS

Every creation begins with a stone.

Before a jewel takes shape, TASO studies the natural form, color and character of every gemstone. Rather than forcing a design onto the material, he allows each stone to reveal its own story.

Every creation begins with an original sketch by TASO. His designs are then brought to life by master Balinese artisans, using traditional silversmithing techniques that have been passed down through generations.

From the first sketch to the final polish, every detail is crafted by hand, transforming nature into wearable art.

"I don't simply create jewelry. I create the vision, and together with master artisans, we bring it to life."
